ST14-JP036 : A Hero Emerges / Hero Meeting (Common)

• Card Description : When an opponent's monster declares an attack: Your opponent chooses 1 random card from your hand, then if it is a monster that can be Special Summoned, Special Summon it. Otherwise, send it to the Graveyard.

• OCG Rulings :
• "Shadow Spell" can be activated both during the Damage Step and when an attack is declared. If activated when an attack is declared, then you do not enter the Damage Step. If activated during the Damage Step, then the monster's ATK decreases by 700, but you still perform damage calculation.
• You can activate "Shadow Spell" during your opponent's Battle Phase's Damage Step, however, only the "-700" effect will be applied and you perform damage calculation normally. Afterwards, the targeted monster cannot attack.

• Card Tips :
• Using this card when there are only Monster Cards that can be Special Summoned in the player's hand ensures something will be Summoned. It it best used when there is only 1 Monster Card, ensuring complete control over what is Special Summoned.
• This card may be used to Summon high Level monsters without Tribute.
• Since this card and "Sakuretsu Armor" are of the same Spell Speed, they can be used to Chain one after the other, destroying the attacking monster AND possibly Special Summoning a monster from your Hand.
• This card is quite useful in many deck ideas.
• "Skill Drain" Decks can use this for "Beast King Barbaros", "Beast Machine King Barbaros Ür" and "Fusilier Dragon, the Dual-Mode Beast"
• "Pyramid of Light"/"Theinen the Great Sphinx" decks can pull out "Andro Sphinx" and "Sphinx Teleia" without "Pyramid of Light" along with the 500LP cost. "Theinen the Great Sphinx" cannot be Special Summoned this way.
• Gemini Decks can use this for a quick summon during their opponent's turn so they can be Normal Summoned the next turn. This is particularly useful for Gemini Monsters that require tributes like "Gigaplant" or "Phoenix Gearfried".
• Remove From Play Decks can use "Golden Homunculus" and "Helios Duo Megistus".
• "Ancient Gears" Decks can use this for "Ancient Gear Engineer", "Ancient Gear Gadjiltron Chimera" and "Ancient Gear Gadjiltron Dragon". This cannot be used for Special Summoning "Ancient Gear Golem" or "Ancient Gear Beast".
• Zombies can use this to pull out "Il Blud", "Red-Eyes Zombie Dragon", "Malevolent Mech - Goku En", "Patrician of Darkness", "Vampire Lord", "Vampire's Curse" and "Ryu Kokki".
• Many Dragons can be summoned including but not limited to:
• "White-Horned Dragon", "Horus the Black Flame Dragon LV6", "Tyrant Dragon", "Blue-Eyes White Dragon", "Armed Dragon LV5", "Red-Eyes Darkness Metal Dragon" (which can then Special Summon another Dragon to your field).
• "Six Samurai" Decks. To quickly get an extra "Six Samurai" on the field.
